A Portrait of 'Thelma Dudley'

Thelma Dudley is a brilliant pianist at the turn of the 19th century. Her popularity has made her an icon of the women’s rights movement which is by now gaining momentum. Dudley is in fact a lesbian, and her entanglements with publicity has made it extremely hard for her to be with person that she loves, a Swedish Woman named Minna who is herself married.
Her frustration manifests itself in Thelma’s daily life, she is moody, and oscillates between reclusion and gregariousness.
